Luke and Muffin 400x400

Luke Green

Owner / Veterinary Surgeon

Hi, I’m Luke one of the owners of Beehive Vets. I decided I wanted to be a vet when I was 13 and went to see practice at my local surgery. I have never wanted to do anything else since. I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2004 and I then spent 13 years in small animal practice at a number of clinics in Liverpool and Kent. Following this, I had roles as a clinical director at 2 different practices in Yorkshire prior to opening Beehive with Esther in 2022.

I have keen interests in surgery and imaging, and particularly enjoy orthopaedic surgery. I am studying towards a certificate in veterinary cardiology and we perform regular heart scans at the surgery. Above all this, I enjoy working alongside pet owners to ensure they are involved in and well-informed about, their pet’s treatment.

I lives near Leeds with my wife Esther, our two sons Tom and Toby and our three cats Milo, Muffin and Potter.

Opening a veterinary practice has been a lifelong dream for me and it has lived up to all my expectations! I love Rothwell and feel like I have found a new home in this sunny little town.

Esther Green

Owner / Veterinary Surgeon

Esther grew up in Yorkshire has wanted to be a vet for as long as she can remember. She graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2005 as a Veterinary Nurse and then went onto study Veterinary Medicine at Liverpool University, qualifying in 2009. While working in Kent as a small animal vet, Esther completed her CertAVP (Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice) qualification. Esther and Luke moved back to Yorkshire in 2015, where they ran a small animal practice together as clinical directors. Esther loves all aspects of veterinary medicine, and she would describe herself as a general practitioner that also enjoys training the student nurses

Esther lives with her husband, Luke, and their two children, Tom and Toby, and three cats, Muffin, Potter and Milo. When she is not at work, she loves baking, swimming and spending time with the family.

Chloe and Bunny (1)

Chloe Moore

Veterinary Surgeon

Hi I’m Chloe. I grew up in London with my childhood cat, Oscar. I graduated from the RVC in 2020 and have been working in small animal practices since then. Although, I very nearly got swayed into equine!

I now live in Wakefield with my partner and our very naughty rabbit, Elliot. Elliot loves lounging on the sofa with us, listening to music/TV and chewing the skirting boards. He is now banned from the kitchen because he learnt how to leap onto the counters to run off with cereal boxes. (Definitely not part of a healthy rabbit diet in case you were wondering).

I love all animals, but cats are my favourite (free-thinkers!). My favourite famous animal is Tuffy from the children’s book The Diary of a Killer Cat. A very good read, even for adults! And I currently quite equally enjoy all aspects of medicine/surgery, but currently particularly enjoying getting to grips with dental x-rays. And in my free time I attend dance classes in Leeds and occasionally go bouldering!

Candice Dyson

Head Veterinary Nurse

Hi, I’m Candice.

I have been in the Veterinary Industry since 1997, working as a ‘Veterinary Nursing Assistant ‘ for many years. I have worked in mainly small animal practice but have spent a few years in farm practice. In 2010 I had the opportunity to gain my Veterinary Nursing qualification, which I jumped at, and I qualified as an RVN in 2013. In 2019 I gained the additional qualifications of HE Clinical Veterinary Nurse and in Advanced Veterinary Nursing.

During my time in practice, I have been the practice principle’s surgical nurse helping with advanced surgical procedures and anaesthesia. In more recent time (last 5 years) I have worked in my area of passion, as a Lead Medical Nurse within a veterinary hospital, growing knowledge of advanced medical procedures. I provided a high level of care of acute and chronic cases, both as in and outpatients, as well as running chronic disease clinics such as Diabetic care, Renal care and Mobility clinics.

I have a keen interest in Animal Nutrition and hold my Nurse Certificate in Small Animal Nutrition and sit on the registration list for the International School of Veterinary Post Graduate Studies (ISVPS).

I also like to train the next generation of veterinary nurses, passing on my gained knowledge.

I am a advocate for an evidence-based approach to all areas of Veterinary medicine and try to research as much as possible to gain the best outcome for both pet and owner.

Outside of work I own, show and judge dogs at a high level. I also have cats and chickens. I am keen about DIY, grow my own vegetables, bake and enjoy walks.

I am greatly looking forward to working within an independent practice with Esther, Luke, Emily and Alix. As a team we work well together and can appreciate each individual’s skill set, giving both yourselves and your pets the best possible care and communication we can offer.

Steph - Registered Veterinary Nurse - Beehive Vets

Steph

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Hi, I’m Steph, the newest member of the Beehive team. I’m joining the team as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

I have worked in various roles within the veterinary profession for over 15 years, gaining my qualification in Veterinary Nursing in 2013 following three years of training with the College of animal welfare. I worked in my previous practice for over 13 years.

I am keenly interested in the different consultations we can offer and hope to help expand what is offered alongside the rest of the nursing team. I am a cat advocate, so I hope to ensure your cats have the best experience when they come in to see us, whether for flea and worming or for a surgical procedure. I am also a trained mental health first aider, so I can help support my colleagues in staying mentally healthy.

In my free time, I enjoy spending my time off out and about with my husband and our young son. At home, I have a cocker spaniel, who, despite being nearly 13, is as giddy as ever. I also enjoy gardening and am trying to make my garden more butterfly and bee friendly.

I am excited to start this new adventure with the team and can’t wait to meet you and your pets.

Hannah

Registered Veterinary Nurse
Hi I’m Hannah, I recently joined the Beehive team as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

I started my career working on a weekend as a veterinary kennel assistant at sixteen. A couple years later I completed my veterinary care assistant qualification, following this I had the amazing opportunity to study to achieve my veterinary nursing qualification and I qualified in July 2023.

I am passionate about making your pets experience the best it possibly can be and nursing their needs as individuals. I love all aspects of my role as a veterinary nurse but I have particular interest in nurse consults, surgery and anaesthesia and I am looking forward to meeting you and your pets.

When I’m not at work I enjoy going for walks, reading, finding new places to eat, spending time with my friends, family and of course with my own pets too; my cat named Kiwi who is full of life and mischief, little rescue dog Maggie and my dwarf hamster Bean!
